The National Radio Research Agency announced that Samsung's smartphone code named TRATS2 running the new Tizen OS had passed the radio wave certification in Korea last week. However, at the moment it's only a phone to be released to developers.
According to the Korean report, the new phone was produced in Vietnam but still must pass the radio wave certification stage.
Tizen is a new smartphone OS led by Samsung Electronics and Intel. Samsung Electronics released a camera with Tizen, and is planning to launch smartphones and smart TVs equipped with Tizen next year.
As the Tizen phone for developers began to be distributed in earnest, the plan to release the Tizen phone in the 1st half of 2014 is expected to go smoothly.
Samsung Electronics will apply Tizen not only to smartphones, but also to consumer electronics and automobiles. To this end the Tizen Alliance is discussing cooperation with global auto makers like Toyota.
