The US Patent and Trademark Office published a new design patent granted to Google yesterday for a keyboard. More specifically, the design is really for 5 keys associated with a Google Chromebook keyboard. Although the Chromebook keyboard uniquely incorporates a "search" key where the traditional "Caps lock" key is positioned on Window PC's, the new aspect of the design simply adds plus and minus symbols to the volume buttons which aren't present today.
For more on this design, see Google's design patent number D684,582. For the record, any part of the design within dotted-lines is not protected in the patent. Only the solid lined areas are covered and in this case it's the 5 buttons that we highlighted in our cover graphic.
