Last week the US Patent & Trademark Office granted HP a design patent for a next generation docking station. Unfortunately design patents don't reveal a damn thing about the actual invention itself. HP only provided design patent D674,391 with a series of graphics and little else. The angle of the dock however would strongly suggest that a future HP notebook cover lid will be able to slant right into the new docking station's circular mechanism in some way. It certainly looks futuristic and wireless I might add. The patent graphics don't illustrate any ports whatsoever (see below).
